The steel ship 'Armida', 1695 tons, in an unidentified port [steel ship, 1695 tons. ON87423, 261.9 x 38.3 x 23.1. Built 1885 (10) Barclay, Curle and Co. Glasgow: Owners W. Letham, registered Greenock, later Armida Ship Co. Ferguson and Letham. c. 1901 renamed 'Ardlemount' owners Ardlemount Ship Co. Ltd (R. Ferguson and Co) registered Greenock: c.1906 sold to Norway and renamed 'Rjukan' and later became the Danish 'Spero', also known the 'Ardlemount'].

One of the ships owned by Ferguson and Lathom, Greenock.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
