Summary

The four masted iron ship 'Vanduara', 2079 tons, in an unidentified port [iron 4 mast ship, later reduced to 4 mast barque. 2086 tons (as ship) 2079 tons (as barque) ON86695, 291.8 x 42.0 x 24.0. Built 1882 (9) C Connell and Co., Glasgow. Owners: JD Clink and Co., registered Greenoc; c.1894 sold to S Goldberg and Sons, registered Swansea; c.1909 to Norwegian owners without change of name. sunk during WW1 in May 1917].

One of the ships owned by J.D. Clink, Greenock.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
