The four masted steel barque 'Clan Galbraith', 2149 tons, anchored in the River Thames, U.K.[steel 4 mast barque. 2149 tons, ON102660, 282.9 x 40.4 x 24.6. Built 1894 (2) Russell and Co. Port Glasgow. Owners: T. Dunlop and Sons, registered Glasgow sold 1909 to Norway without change of name. Stranded at Long Island, NY, 22 June 1916 but reportedly refloated.]

General notes

One of the ships owned by The Clan Line / T. Dunlop and Sons, Glasgow. These sailing vessels engaged largely in the Californian and Australian grain trade.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
