Group portrait of seven grape pickers at the Knappstein vineyard and winery in Clare, South Australia. John Oliver Dawson is third from the right, with a beard. Written on reverse: 'Depression years - J.O. Dawson (w. beard) and grape-pickers, Clare (Knappstein's) c.1935. Very poor pay - all unemployed men, given work 'to help' in those bad years. Knappstein's property near Clare'.
