Papers of W.A. Lillebo were left to the State Library of S.A. according to his Will.

Historical information

Wallace Alfred Lillebo was born on 18 July 1929, son of Oliver James Lillebo from South Africa and Vera Remphrey. He was educated at the Thebarton Technical School, where he was introduced to music. He started work at Allans Music Store where he taught piano and made musical arrangements in a studio on the fourth floor of the Allans Building in Gawler Place, Adelaide. He was a jazz musician with his own jazz band, playing on television in his early days in Sydney and Adelaide. One of his interests was hunting and shooting and he made periodic trips to the northern Flinders Ranges with friends. He joined the Regular Army in July 1962 and was discharged in July 1968, serving as a medic in Vietnam for a year from May 1966-May 1967. He was interested in writing and wrote his reminiscences of his interest in hunting and shooting, his time in the tent city at Leigh Creek and his Vietnam service. He died on 18 February 2004.
