Summary

Miss Phoebe Stanton of Blanche Villa boarding school, Broadway, Glenelg, South Australia riding her tricycle aged 90. Inscription on reverse reads 'To dear Mrs Robertson from P Stanton' [i.e. addressed to Thorburn Brailsford Robertson's mother Sarah Robertson or his widow, Jane Winifred Robertson). A later hand has crossed out the inscription and added 'Miss Phoebe after her 90th Birthday'.

Historical information

Thorburn Brailsford Robertson boarded with Miss Stanton from the age of eight until he finished his university degree in 1905, except for a year in which he was sent to school in England but returned to Adelaide due to ill health. Miss Stanton died aged 95 in about January 1940.
