Historical information

Harry Thomson, Rhodes Scholar from South Australia at Balliol College, Oxford, 1913. Enlisted 22 July 1915 and gazetted 2nd lieutenant, 13th Reinf., 10th Battalion, 16 September 1915, and O.C. 10 January 1916. Left on HMAT 'Borda' for Egypt. Transferred to 50th Battalion on its formation. Member of 'D' Company with rank of captain. Wrote the Battalion song and won Military Cross 24 October 1918. Deputy Director of Education, AIF Education Service at Dinant, Belgium in 1919. Became barrister on return to SA and made K.C., and partner in legal practice Thomson & Playford. State President RSL in 1932. Died 18 October 1933.
