General notes

The crew appear to be standing in front of a meat safe. There was a meat safe at the stern of the "Ruby", and the steel girder in this image appears to be identical to the girder still in place at the stern of the "P.S. Ruby". It is possible this image is not of the "P.S. Gem" but of the stern of the "P.S. Ruby", circa 1909 - 1916.
