General notes

This photo cannot be of the P.S. 'Ellen' as the vessel in this photograph has doors on the second deck opening onto the outside deck. The 'Ellen' had cabins on her upper foredeck that opened onto an internal corridor, with only windows facing outside. Aft of midships on the 'Ellen' was the vessel's dining room that featured floor to ceiling windows facing the outside deck, but no doors. Access to this dining room was either via a door at the end of the internal corridor or via two doors at the stern of the second deck. The vessel in this photo is clearly the P.S. 'Marion'. As this vessel is still alive and well in Mannum it is easy to see the similarity. [from information provided by researcher].

Names on caption are difficult to read. Possibly on top deck from left is Bert Lambert, unnamed female crew, Captain Alexander, Molly Schultze, Mr. Reidel. Below, G. Scholl, wearing dark shirt and beret is 3rd from left, and Alf Allen the cook, stands in white clothes with ladle.
