Historical information

Moorundie (also Moorundee) was an agricultural settlement and Aboriginal station on the east bank of the Murray near Blanchetown. See entry in Whitworth's 'South Australian Gazetteer', 1866. A police station was established in 1839 for the protection of Europeans and Aborigines. E. J. Eyre and others were in charge of it at different times. Also see entry in G. H. Manning: 'Manning's place names of South Australia'.
