Historical information

The paddlesteamer 'Alert' was built in 1879 by George Linklater at Echuca, with the launch advertised for Saturday 14 June 1879. (Riverland Herald 9 June 1879, p.2). Linklater laid the keel circa mid-August 1878 - keel 65ft, 15ft beam and DOH 5ft 6in (Riverland Herald 20 August 1878, p.2).
