Historical information

Registered at Sydney, 1877, official number 74926. Built at Moama, 1877, by G.B. Ayr. (Godson number 70A/16). According to researcher Leith Hall, this Vessel is not the P.S. Success, but rather the first P.S. Enterprise built c.1868 and later re-named Rita. The vessel was once owned by the Victorian Government and used for snagging. This vessel is not to be confused with an earlier vessel of the same name, nor should it be confused with a later vessel also named Enterprise, the latter of which still exists. The Enterprise pictured underwent few changes, but was converted into a Barge sometime in the early 1900s. Researcher Arthur Murray also believes this is P.S.Enterprise, which was later renamed Rita. Another researcher has provided the information that the old P.S. Enterprise was sold to the NSW Government in 1874 and its name changed to Rita. It now lies in Lake Mulwala but is never visible.
