Historical information

Registered at Sydney, 1876 and Port Adelaide, 1909, official number 73374. Built at Echuca, 1876, by J. Duncan.

A researcher has suggested that 'this Vessel is actually the original PS Ruby built c. 1876. Many of the Paddle Steamers were altered several times, and the first PS Ruby underwent some of the biggest changes. Initially the Ruby had her name on her paddlebox housings, but after only minor changes a few years after being built the name was removed from the paddleboxes. A short while later the superstructure was almost completely rebuilt again turning the Ruby into a triple decked Vessel. The first PS Ruby was converted into a Barge in late 1908 and re-named Radia, she was eventually retired about 1938 and abandoned near Goolwa'. Another researher believes that this vessel is actually the Success, not the Ruby. When built, the Success & the original Ruby were very similar in appearance. They were built by the same builder & there were several similar looking vessels built at this time in the same yard.

According to another researcher 'this vessel has been identified as the P.S Success by Captain Frank Tucker in his book "P.S Success This Is Your Life", which was printed independently at the end of 2015.
