General notes

According to a press clipping in the Mountford collection, the origin of the name 'Dr Stone's Station' is a twist on the colloquially named 'the Doctor's Stones', which drovers used to describe the stony topography of the area. (See PRG 1218/31/2 page 43).

Photograph taken by Charles Mountford whilst acting as secretary to the 1935 'Commonwealth Board of Enquiry into the alleged ill-treatment of Aborigines near Ayers Rock'.
