General notes

In a wooden box posted from Oswestry, Salop. England, on 13th December 1903, by Mary Fulcher, the second wife of George Fulcher, to Sarah Charlotte Shaw, wife of John Shaw, at Hindmarsh, South Australia. The box originally contained a glass ambrotype photograph of Sarah Charlotte, the daughter of George Fulcher, when aged about 8 years, with an elderly woman likely to be the mother of George Fulcher (see PRG 1034/1/1).

Ambrotype glass plate only; not housed in case.

Historical information

George Fulcher was born on 18 August 1828. He married Charlotte Pugh on 10 October 1850 at the Parish Church, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, England. Died on 22 January 1898 in Morda, Shropshire, England. George and Charlotte's daughter Sarah Charlotte Fulcher was born on 15 September 1852 at Castlegate, Shropshire, England. She worked as a school teacher and married John Shaw on 30 November 1870, at the Register Office in Aston, Warwickshire, England. She died in 1922 in Hindmarsh, South Australia.
