Gouger's own version (numbered PRG 1012/1) comprises eight folded folio sheets in three sections, labelled: "Some rough notes of a voyage from Gravesend to South Australia in the Africaine, Captain Duff, 316 Register, commencing on June 30 1836"; "Memoranda made during a voyage from South Australia to England by way of Van Diemen's Land in the Katherine Stewart Forbes" and "Voyage from Hobart Town to England via Cape Horn". The diary entries are intermittent. For September 1836, for example, there are entries only for the 1st, 4th, 8th, 13th, and 17th of September. The transcription/diary for 1836 ceases part way down the last written page (page two of the final folded sheet). The reverse of this last sheet has an annotation written in a different (contemporary) hand which I would say is almost certainly his daughter (Sarah Adelaide) reading, "1st part of Journal of Voyage to South Australia by Robert Gouger."
