Historical information

Mattie Kelly (later Holland) was born in Hornsdale, near Jamestown, in 1894. She was the mother of Joan Brewer, whose papers can be found at PRG 799. An interview with Joan Brewer (OH 593/3) includes some information about Mattie. 'Frank' is believed to be Frank Giles (service number 1721), born in Mintaro, who served in the 16th Battalion including at Gallipoli, and later in the 48th Battalion. He was killed in action in France in 1916. Ralph M Green is likely Ralph Morton Green (service number 285), born in St Peters, South Australia. Brian Gore is likely service number 6819, also born in St Peters, who was killed in action in 1918 (see SRG 76/1/6476).
