Summary

Red cotton, cross stitch alphabet, dates of commencement and completion, 'Rose Garden School' and 'Eileen Dowling' on cross stitch material. Miss Edith Dove, a teacher at the school, was the great aunt of the donor of the sampler.

Historical information

Eileen Kathleen Dowling was the third of six children born to George and Helen Dowling. She was born 29 June 1891 and attended school in Stephen's Terrace, Walkerville. In 1915 she married Lieutenant S. Harley George. She died aged 97 on 2 June 1989.
