c. 1885, Artwork, D 8915/3/1A-6A(Misc)
Detailed cross-section of a hand-drawn double-sided illustration of a Victorian-era terrace house, or possibly a hotel, drawn in ink with interior sections coloured with watercolour paint. The illustration is drawn over multiple pages, but it appears that some pages depicting the upper storeys of the house are missing. One side of the pages depicts the exterior of the house, showing doors, balconies, potplants, and windows, with vines covering the outside of the building. On the reverse of the pages is the interior view of the buildings, drawn with great attention to detail, depicting furniture, rugs, paintings, decorations, light fittings and curtains for various rooms including sitting rooms, bedrooms, conservatories, bathrooms, dining rooms, a library, billiards room, and staircases. The illustration covers nine pages in total, and may be part of one large building, or possibly two or more smaller buildings. Seven pages have been joined together forming the main section of the house, and two separate pages (one illustrating gardens and the other another section of the house), appear to match the style of the building, but do not join to any of the existing pieces.
