Historical information

The Ackland Gardens airfield was located on a large, flat paddock just north of the intersection of Daws (formerly Sweetmans) and South Roads, in the area formerly known as Ackland Gardens (now Edwardstown). A small wooden hangar was constructed adjacent to South Road. The proprietor of the airfield was Arthur H. Wilkins.
