Studio portrait, likely to be one of the daughters of Alfred Muller Simpson and wife Catherine Allen, possibly Katie Allen Simpson. She is wearing a long white gown with short sleeves, and is holding a pair of roses. Katie Allen Simpson (7 October 1887-1965) married Leonard Charles Simpson (-3 July 1953), a lieutenant of the Royal Artillery, in 1915. They lived at 21 Rochester street, Leabrook.

Portrait of an unidentified woman, likely a member of the Simpson family, possibly Catherine Allen, wife of Alfred Muller Simpson. She is wearing a dress with puffed sleeves, and a high lace neck collar, and brooch at the neck. Alfred M. Simpson (c. 1842-28 September 1917) married Catherine Allen (-16 October 1887) on 18 October 1871. She was a daughter of James Allen (c.1815 -11 August 1881) of Unley and Harriet Allen, née McKellar (c. 1814-12 July 1896), who arrived in South Australia with two sisters aboard the Lady Lilford in 1839, and married in 1844.

He enlisted with the AIF on 9 Septemebr 1915, and embarked with the 32nd Battalion on board the HMAT A28 'Miltiades' on 7 February 1916, aged 25 years. He also served with the 48th Battalion, and was promoted to Company Quartermaster Sergeant. He returned to Australia on 24 January 1919. written on front: 'Yours Truly, W.C. Loan (Jan 1916)'. Born 1889, son of Hugh James Loan and Emma Gray.
