General notes

Note on back of drawing by S.A. Archives archivist: 'If this bridge ever existed it occupied the site of the Robinson Bridge at the entrance to the S.A. Company's Basin. The Robinson Bridge was preceded by a swing bridge erected in 1857 and 1858. This was in turn preceded by an earlier bridge erected on or close to the same spot. During the demolition of this bridge and the erection of the swing bridge in 1857-1858 a temporary bridge did duty. The drawings on the other side probably relate either to the temporary bridge or to the one which it replaced. See 'S.A. Register' May 9 1857, page 3(d) and March 18 1858, page 2(e)'.
