Historical information

Sir James Wallace Sandford was a merchant and politician born in Melbourne, the eldest son of Alexander Wallace Sandford. He took over A. W. Sandford & Co., and was chairmand and managing director for the rest of his life. He married Kate Irene MacLeod in 1907 and was a member of the Adelaide Club by 1916. For 23 years he was the consul for Sweden in Adelaide, and in 1938-1956 he represented the Liberal and Country League in the Legislative Council for Central No. 2.
