Summary

The crowd at the post-fire sale in Rundle Street, standing in front of banners saying 'Great Salvage Sale' and 'The Only Entrance'. Two policemen on horses are in the middle of the crowd. Caption reads: 'Fire sale! No wonder this sale was the talk of Adelaide for many years afterwards ... the "Big Store" certainly got the habit of bringing in the crowds very early in its history ... note the troopers putting up an unavailing fight to stem the rush. 27 April 1901.'
