Summary

[General description] The Forest Inn is a stone two storey building with wooden verandahs and balconies, the supports being of unmilled tree trunks. In the centre of the view is a family (possibly that of the proprietor) dressed in their best, sitting in a horse drawn cart. Other people in the view were probably employees of the hotel. Margaret Randall was licensee at this time. See B 54025 for a view taken in 1937. [On back of photograph] 'Forest Inn / 1885 or 1886 / Situated on the corner of intersection of the South and Bay (Anzac Highway) Roads / Copied from a photograph lent by Mrs. A. Lee of 102 Anzac Highway, Glandore / This building was modernised a few years prior to its demolition Shop windows etc installed and used as a sweets shop / The building was demolished in 1939' (Another hand) 'Delicensed probably in 1909 (see Directories) when B'J. Conroy was licensee'.
