Summary

[General description] The original design of the Art Gallery had an enclosed portico at the North Terrace entrance but during the enlarging process the building has aquired an impressive new facade with an open Doric portico. Garden in the foreground has iron hoops as a barrier. Part of the South Australian Museum can be seen on the left. [On back of photograph] 'North Terrace East / National Gallery / June 23rd 1940 / The new front was erected and the Gallery enlarged 1936-37 / Building operations completed in 1937 / Compare with B 4367'.
