Summary

[General description] The Adelaide Lacrosse Club, formed in June 1885 was South Australia's first club. Standing (L to R) Frank Giles, R. Evans, Professor Bragg, Alf Wilkinson, S.H. Goode, S.A. Davenport, Frank Goode, Lloyd Prince, C.H. Wilkinson. Sitting (L to R) Wm. Boundey, A.H. Roberts, S. Talbot Smith, G. Codd. A researcher has suggested that the photograph was taken on 7 August 1886, as this was the only match in that season to be played at the Victoria Park Race Course. For further details on the match see the newspaper article in the 'South Australian Register', Monday 9 August 1886, page 6. A similar image of the Noarlunga Lacrosse Team at the Victoria Park Race Course is available on the Onkaparinga City Council website.
