Summary

Military travelling kitchen serving Australian troops in 1940. The forerunner was the Wiles Travelling Army Field Kitchen which entered service in 1915. Wiles from Ballarat had to face his own battle with authorities to allow his horse drawn kitchen to be accepted as standard military equipment. Eventually over 300 cookers were produced and were used in Australia, Egypt and France during the Great War.
