Summary

Snowtown Hotel, c.1881 Snowtown was established in 1878 and lies in the mid north of South Australia. It was the terminus of the railway line from Kadina which was opened in mid 1879. A new hotel was constructed at Snowtown for proprietor Richard Haselgrove in 1879, and was originally called the Barunga Terminus Hotel. The name was changed in 1881 to the Snowtown Hotel. A group of women and children can be seen upstairs on the balcony while the men gather downstairs watching the photographer. At the back of the hotel stands the Snowtown Assembly Room.
