Summary

Brougham Place, North Adelaide, May 25th 1933, far side of building is 70 yards north of Kermode Street and frontage is 50 yards. At the time of the photograph the building belonged to the Royal Institution for the Blind. Andrew Whyte Hendry and Sir Charles Goode founded an industrial school in 1884 to help the blind to live independently within the community. In 1903 it became the Royal Institute for the Blind. The new premises in Brougham Place contained a Braille Library and recreation rooms. This photograph shows two librarians in the Braille Library surrounded by floor to ceiling bookshelves.
