Summary

Hindley Street, north side, right side of Genders building is 50.5 yards west of Rosina Street and frontage is 8.5 yards. A note on the back of the photograph states "The Advertiser was first printed at these premises. See "News" 14 January 1929, page 10". J. C. Genders imports and makes saddles, ironmongery, whips and harnesses. Some of these goods adorn the outside of the shop. The business was founded by Joseph Charles Genders Snr, 1827-1914, who moved to Launceston, Tasmania in 1881.
