Summary

A velocipede was an early bicycle, the wheels made of wood and shod with iron. It is the collective noun used to describe human powered land vehicles. The pedals are attached to the centre of the larger front wheel. The makers realised that the larger the wheel the farther you could travel with one rotation of the pedals. The gentleman riding this velocipede is wearing a suit, bow tie and smart hat.
