Summary

Men and children at work with bales of wool near a small building. Several men are seated on horses, and one is driving a cart pulled by two horses. Several handwritten notes appear on the rear in different hands. One reads '1. Robert Kemp 2. James Kemp 3. --- Uphill', which refer to the numbers written on the photograph to identify three individuals. A second note reads 'I think later than 1878'. Another note reads 'Photograph taken during the 1860/70 decade or early 1870/80 decade being the original wool scouring industry of the Michell family proprietors, on the River Wakefield at Undalya SA. Now Messrs G.H. Michell & Sons Ltd. of Hindley Street Adelaide. Feb 25th 1888 to Mr Michell fell mongers by sheep skins 59lbs @ 24 per lb. Supplied by Theodore Kemp from the a/c book of the late James Kemp'.
