Summary

Officers of the Volunteer Military Forces in undress uniform (dark blue coats) mainly belonging to the 2nd Battalion, Adelaide Rifles in approximately 1890. Standing, left to right: (1) S.J. Skipper ('Hugh Kalyptus"), (3) J.W.A. Smith;(4) Robert Southouse; (5) A.F. Cornish; (6) E.C. Gluess; - (7) Feuerhardt; (8) H.C.R. Batchelor;(9) College boy, probably one of the Makins; - ; - (11) Williams; - ; (13) R.J.S. Adams; (14) H.E. Foster (possibly Henry Edgar Foster); - . Sitting: - ; -(2) Kennedy; (3) J.W. Erskine; (4) A. L. Harrold;(5) Edward Stuckey (afterwards Sir Edward);(6) Col. Makin; (7) Major J. Stewart or Stuart. NB: (Number 14) HE Foster is holding a bicycle. See B 7803. A researcher has suggested that the soldier seated fifth from left is actually Colonel William De Passey.
