Summary

Caldonian Hotel, Robe was built by Scotsman Peter McQueen in 1858. Poet Adam Lindsay Gordon stayed there and later married the licensee's daughter Maggie Park. Timbers and doors from ships wrecked in nearby Guichen Bay were used in construction of the Inn. The photograph shows the two storey limestone building standing next to a dirt road where men, boys and dog and horse and cart are moving.
