Summary

[General description] London studio portrait of Sir Thomas Edwin Smith; brewer, parliamentarian, civic leader and philanthropist. He is seated and is wearing court dress; a velvet suit with knee breeches, stockings and waistcoat with metal buttons. He has a bicorne hat and a ceremonial sword. This portrait is most likely to have been taken when he was awarded K.C.M.G. in 1888. [On back of photograph] 'Sir Edwin Thomas Smith / Presented by W.S. Talbot Smith'.
