Summary

[General description] This view of Victoria Park Racecourse shows part of the grounds, racetrack and buildings including the new grandstand (on the left) which was constructed in 1882. It was Adelaide's first official racetrack, called the 'old course' until 1897 when it was renamed Victoria Park in honour of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The Adelaide Hills make an attractive backdrop. [On back of photograph] 'Victoria Park Racecourse / About 1890'.
