General notes

Historical information

Francesco (Frank) Giovanni Fantin, labourer and anti-fascist, was born in Italy and migrated to Melbourne in 1924. In 1940 he was denounced as a Fascist by Australian authorities, paradoxically was accused of spreading Communist propaganda among cane workers, was arrested in 1942 and moved to Loveday Internment Camp in Barmera. In November 1942 he was killed by Giovanni Casotti, a known Fascist.
