Historical information

This is one a set of 14 photographs sent by amateur photographer, Paul Reeve, to the manager at Wirraminna Station. (Wirraminna Station is a cattle station on the Stuart Highway, near Lake Hart and Lake Gairdner in the north of South Australia.) The covering letter reads (in part) 'Dear Sir, I don't know you and you probably don't know me, but I worked on the station from early 1940 until September 1941 when I left to join the A.I.F. After a stint in the Middle East and P.N.G.I returned to Wirraminna where I stayed another six months. Dick Jenkins was the Manager and I was the Overseer. It was just after the war and labour was hard to get. ... The enclosed photos may be of interest to you.' An obituary for Paul Reeve appeared in 'The Advertiser', Saturday, August 25, 2007, page 38.
