Summary

A photographic album relating to the arrival of Sir Ross Smith, Sir Keith Smith, and engineers W. A. Shiers and W. O. J. M. Bennett over Adelaide and surrounds, after their record breaking trip from England in their Vickers Vimy. The album includes aerial photographs of country towns and notable South Australian features passed during the flight and some of the planes that formed their escort for their landing. Also includes additional loose photographs not included in the album, and four additional aerial views of Adelaide, which are part of the sequence of photos featured in the album. An article in 'The Register', Wednesday 24 March 1920, page 9, describes the arrival of the Vicker Vimy. An article about Captain Hurley, who flew in the plane with the photographer, can be found in 'The Chronicle' newspaper, 27th March 1920, pgs. 23-25.
