A researcher has provided the following information about John Henry Grant's descendants: John Henry Grant was born and educated in the county of Kent, and he also lived there with his first wife, Margaret Grant. John Henry Grant later married Evelyn Lesley, lived in the family home at Edenham, Cheltenham, Sussex, England, and had three sons: Robert Lesley Grant, a reverend in the Church of England, Major Alexander Grant, and John Evelyn Grant. The youngest son, John Evelyn Grant, was born in Sussex, England in approximately 1893. He served in the British Merchant Marines and joined the AIF in 1916, No. 295 with the 43rd Battalion, aged 24. He married Mabel Sylvia Hunt of Myponga in 1922 and had a daughter, Helen Amelita Wyville Grant (1925-2014), who married Gerald Hayes in Adelaide in 1946 and had three daughters: Lesley Helen Isabel Walker (nee Hayes), Geraldine Barnes (nee Hayes), and Meredith Hayes. John Henry's granddaughter (Helen Amelita Wyville Grant) who lived all her married life in Adelaide, was educated at St. Peter's Anglican girls college. She was a member of the old scholars association and her war service as a WRAN is acknowledged in a dedicated inscription in the Chapel at the school. She served as a leading WRAN supply on HMAS Cerberus where she undertook her basic training and served some time. There she met her future husband CPO Gerald Hayes. They married in 1946 and lived happily in the suburb of Kensington Park until Gerald's death in 1977. Helen was awarded a War Widows Pension due to her husband 's war related illness and early death at the age of 60 years. She was proud to be a life member of the Ex- WRANS association and served as an office bearer for many years.

According to another researcher, John Henry's daughter-in-law Mabel Sylvia Grant (nee Hunt), was born in 1899 at Myponga S.A. Mabel Sylvia Grant was the licensee of the Two Wells Hotel. This may have been while John Evelyn was a student at Roseworthy College. She was also the licensee of the hotel at Coobowie Yorke Peninsula. She had numerous relatives working as miners quarrymen at Kadina, Burra and environs. The Hunt-Grant Family is part of the Reed Family. Thirza Ann Reed married Thomas Hunt of Myponga. Their daughter Mabel Sylvia married John Evelyn Grant.

Another researcher has supplied the following information: John Henry Grant's three sons all served and survived the Great War. His eldest son served with the British Army as an Anglican Chaplain. He was an alumni of Cambridge University (St Johns College). Major Alexander Grant served in the British Army. The third son served in the AIF. He was sent to South Australia as a young man arriving by steamship. Some time was spent in the Mercantile Marines. He had letters of introduction from his father Lysaughts was mentioned. He was enrolled at Roseworthy Agricultural College and graduated. When war was declared he was looking at land sales possibly in the Fleurieu Peninsula. Post war there is mention of his Myponga born wife as the licencee of a hotel at Two Wells. He also had a sales connection with the Riley Car Company in Adelaide. He owned and drove a black Riley. In 1928 John Mabel Sylvia And Helen sailed for England on the 'Orvieto'. The family stayed at Edenham House near Cheltenham Gloucestershire. It was the last Grant Family reunion in the UK. John, Evelyn and his Adelaide born family never returned to the U.K. Mabel died in 1966 JE in 1974 and Helen in 2014. Evelyn Lesley was the second wife of J.H. Grant. He had six other children from his first marriage which ended in divorce. Sons of that marriage also served in the British Forces, one of which was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. The family owned a farm the Old Barn Bethersden near Ashford Kent. He was educated at Rochester School.
