Historical information

Captain Robert Clark Morgan was commander of the 'Duke of York', which was the first vessel to land settlers in South Australia shortly after its creation as a free colony by British Parliament in 1834. He became captain of the London Missionary Society's mission ship, the 'John Williams', and sailed the ship on three voyages in 1844-1847, 1847-1850, and 1851-1855.
