Historical information

On 11 April 1890, the town of Gawler celebrated as the first locomotive produced in South Australia rolled out of James Martin & Co.'s workshop. The Governor of South Australia and many other dignitaries were in attendance for the Gala Day which ended with fireworks in the evening.
