Summary

Rundle Street, south side, 1888. The view was dated by the name Ellery on the lantern outside the Hamburg Hotel. Ellery first applied for his licence in May 1888. Kaufman and the American Novelty Company had moved from the adjoining premises several years before but their names had not been painted out. The photograph shows the south side of Rundle Street near the intersection of King William Street. Horse drawn carriages and carts move along Rundle Street as it stretches towards the east. Some people are using umbrellas on this inclement afternoon in Adelaide.
