Historical information

According to The South Australian Register, Wednesday 17 April 1889, page 6, 'The north end of the line (of the Central Mine at Broken Hill) has a public contractor supplied by the Barrier Ranges Company, who have succeeded in a second attempt, and the south end has now its public smelter, Miss Cornwell and others having erected a compact 50-ton water-jacket apparatus, at a cost of 2,500 (pounds)'. 1889 'CORNWELL SMELTER.', South Australian Register (Adelaide, SA : 1839 - 1900), 17 April, p. 6, viewed 19 January, 2012,
