View over a dam or lake, possible viewed from an aircraft. George Herbert Reeves, who was an engineer, worked in Mount Gambier during 1912. His 'sweetheart' Gertrude May Smith, makes reference in letters to his photos of 'the pretty lake'

General notes

These photographs were accompanied by 'The Welcome Photographic Exposure Record and diary, 1912' which was used by George Reeves to record details of exposures; and a leaflet 'How to use Velox' which also belonged to Reeves. Both can be found at D 8602(Misc).

Historical information

Donor information: there is enough anecdotal evidence to label at least some of these photos as taken by George William Herbert REEVES, 1894-1979 [son of Edith]. Some holiday snaps were taken by other family members, because there is reference to these photos and times in correspondence between my grandparents, during their long courtship and once married, but at times when they worked apart.
