Summary

A fire at John Martins on Charles Street on Easter Saturday 1901 at 1100am. The fire started in a window display where a gas light cracked and lit nearby muslin material. The steam fire engine arrived within five minutes and the shoppers were evacuated. By noon there were 10,000 people in Rundle Street and North Terrace.
