Summary

Copy print of an early photograph of J. Castle's general store, High Street, Willunga, with two shopkeepers wearing aprons, and two women with four children on the road in front. The store occupies half of a larger stone building with a shingled roof; the other half is the residence. There is a brick and timber verandah with a galvanised roof in front of the store's half of the building. The store was built by James Castle, one of Willunga's earliest entrepreneurs, who opened it for business around 1852.
