Summary

[General description] Portrait of George French Angas, explorer, naturalist and artist who painted some of the Colony's earliest scenes, arriving in Adelaide in 1844. He was the eldest son of George Fife Angas. [On back of photograph] 'George French Angas / The original drawing is in the possession of the Angas family / This illustration is published in 'The Kafirs Illustrated' by George French Angas, 1849 / Portrait dated 1848 / From neg. stored in Admin. Dept. 1937'.
