Photograph of 'Cunard Liner S.S. "Oregon" 4405 J.V.' Notes accompanying the photograph read:' "Oregon" built by John Elder & Co. for the Guion Line. Afterwards purchased for the Cunard Line. Launched 23rd June 1883. First voyage in October 1883. Length 520 feet. Breadth 54 feet. Depth 40 feet 9 inches. Gross tonnage 7500. Horse power indicated 12,382. Engines - compd 3 inverted cylinders - one 70 inch & 2, 104 inch. Stroke 6 feet. Boilers 9. Furnaces 72. Pressure 110 lbs. Revolutions 62. Trial trip on 19th September 1883, to the Cumbraes from Ailsa Craig. Consumption of coal 240 tons per diem. Decks, 5. Eleven water-tight compartments. Speed on trial 20 knots. Can carry 320 cabin, 92 second and 110 steerage. Fitted with electric light.'
